Spin the Black Thing...

Whats's wrong with CD's MP3's and the whole digital whatever?
Absolutely nothing! I am not here to defend the merits and demerits of vinyl records versus CD's and vice versa or whichever is better or worst. All are just formats (I could here audiophiles screaming!!) to deliver the message... and that message is music and it should be and must be appreciated in all it's form.

There is nothing more simpler (for me) than friends getting together and having a 'feel' of the old vinyl records, waiting their turn to spin on a very old and vintage equipment, some old technics turntable and simply having a cold beer on hand.
Come to the gallery every Tuesday and Thursday nights to hear some of the best and hottest sound there is. It has nothing to do with technology...
It is after all, ALL ABOUT MUSIC.as one of my fav groups of all time would say SPIN THAT BLACK THING

Horny People Around..

Halloween day, the gallery was filled with lots of horny people of all size and shapes. Another reason to party and forget even for just a few minutes how things are being run by our so called political leaders. It's all in the newspaper so I don't need to go into details. After all this bog is supposed to be free from politics. Here's some pictures of these 'horny' creatures that night.

Pop Rock Fashion Robots and Lonely People

Opening this December 04, 2007 is the two man exhibit of Eric David and Penguin Gallery regular Dante Perez. The show is entitled 'Pop Rock Fashion Robots and Lonely People. This show is a study in contrast. To begin with, Eric's work, which includes some wearable art pieces, is a colorful kaleidescope of robotic figures while Dante Perez is pure black and white photos of blared and out of focus images. Perhaps the shows title itself, pop rock.. and lonely people is enough statement on today's contemporary urban lifestyle and obsession, with pop rock icons as the stars and the rest of the humanity as it's lonely audience. The show runs until December 19, 2007

Feeling Nostalgic

Browsing thru youtube, I discovered this 'old' (and new) video taken by good friend Egay Navarro during the early part of the 90's , yeah I am that old.......
Blast from the past but definitely rocking. The late Pepito Bosch and artist Roberto Villanueva is also on this video. This was taken during one of the many opening nights at the gallery. The occasion this time was the opening of the artist Diokno Pasilan show entitled "'Ganduyan" (the old name of Sagada a mountain resort north of Manila, Philippines). I also saw a much "younger" image of myself and so is everybody for that matter...

"Fabricated Photos"

One man exhibit of Dondon Villaluz.
Just recently the gallery held the one man photo exhibit of Dondon Villaluz. Dondon describe himself as a dreamer of world peace, unity and freedom. On a more lucid state he is a fulltime web designer, graphics artist and photographer.

Here are some images of the exhibit. I called them "fabricated" photos in a sense, that they look and resemble something of a textile collage designed and manipulated digitally.Using lights as the 'primary' source of his 'fabric' each pattern is repeated using the wonders of digital photography. While some folks would sniker (probably) so what else is new? In this day and age everything old becomes new and the new within nano seconds become old. So enjoy your digital moments and for god's sake just shut up....

The show is going until Sept 18, 2007. The next show will have the entire Alvarado boys (with the father and friend Nuni Alvarado, and sons Nukleyar and Barog doing various interpretaions of the current landscape of the the place they call home..
Bacolod.
